Family Health Centers
NATPOW established 58 Family Health
Centers (FHCs) in Pakistan during FY: 2009-10 and 2010-11 with PSDP
funds from the Government of Pakistan. The FHCs constitute the NATPOW
core activity and the 58 have been established through grant-making to
the NATPOW Affiliate CSOs working at grass-roots level.
The inputs from GoP-NATPOW include staff
salaries for 03-persons, Maternal, Neonatal & Child Healthcare (MNCH)
related medicines, essential medical equipment, furniture & fixtures,
delivery kits, newborn kits & hygiene kits from the UNFPA. Each of FHC
is staffed by Lady Health Visitor / Family Welfare Worker and 01
Community Midwives and a helper. The staff has been provided refresher
training also to enhance their skills and deliver services coupled with
Quality of Care (QoC).
Mobile Service Units: Village to
Village Door to Door
NATPOW is amongst the earliest
respondents to reach the rain affectees in SINDh, with financial
assistance from UNFPA, the NATPOW launched the Mobile Service Units (MSUs)
Project on September 15, 2011 through its Affiliated Civil Society
Organizations (CSOs) involved as the implementing partners (IPs). The
project comprised of 15MSUs deployed in Districts of Sanghar (05),
Benazirabad (04), Khairpur (03) and MirpurKhas (03) being the most
affected by rains in SINDH. The main objective of the NATPOW's MSU
Project is to reach the pregnant mothers and the reproductive age women
and reproduce healthcare services, post-natal care with post-partum
family planning, new born healthcare, post abortion care, treatment for
general ailments of children and elderly, routine family planning
services, referral for high risk pregnancies and permanent
contraception.
The Project Inputs from UNFPA-NATPOW
include staff salaries for 5-persons, MCH related medicines, essential
medical equipment, vehilcle & POL costs and delivery kits, newborn kits
and hygiene kits, World Health Organization (WHO) has also provided
essential medicines for the project. Each of MSUs is staffed by a Female
Doctor/Lady Health Visitor (LHVs), two community midwifes and a
technician / dispenser. The staff has been provided refresher trainings
also to enhance their skills.
The MSU Project -2011 has providing
Antenatal Care, Post Natal Care, Deliveries, TT vaccines, New Born
Health Care, General Ailment Treatment, Family Planning Services,
Children Vaccinated, Hygiene Kits, New Born Kits, Referral for C
Section, Clean Delivery Kits
Religious Leader's Mobilization at grass root community level to promote
Responsible Parenthood & to eradicate Extreme Behavior:
Objectives of the project is to bring
long-term behavioral change in the community by effectively involving
100 Religious Leaders at the village level, to mobilize communities to
seek women's reproductive rights to inculcate Responsible Partner hood,
to remove socio-religious myths & misperceptions related to use of FP
methods and to promote tolerance and compassion. Geographic
Coverage/Scope: District of Rajanpur in Southern Punjab.
